Lifted Movement - The Wedges

Lifted Movement fitness equipment photography showing marble texture and material detail

- about this project
The Brief:

Fitness equipment as designer home objects

Working from Toronto, we photographed Lifted Movement's complete product line over 2.5 shoot days. Lifted Movement creates fitness equipment designed to look as good at home as it performs, merging recycled steel, marble-look polyresin, and silicone finishes into pieces that function as both workout tools and interior objects. The scope included free weights, silicone hand weights, kettlebells, resistance bands, the Deluxe Movement Mat, tote bag, duffel bag, dumbbells, the Arc, wedges, heat wraps, mini motivator, massage gun, hot pack, ice pack, and a set of holiday campaign images.

The photography focused on delivering true-to-life color and high-detail imagery that clearly shows texture and craftsmanship across different finishes. Customers weren't fully understanding the true product colors and materials online, so our approach centered on making marble, metal, and silicone finishes read as premium at first glance.

The Execution:

Macro texture photography as trust signal

We built the lighting around diffused directional setups to reveal texture without blowing out highlights on reflective metal surfaces. Powder-coated steel needed to show its matte finish and edge quality without reading flat. Marble-look polyresin had to look distinct from both actual stone and cheap plastic, with veining and surface realism that justified the price point. Silicone handles required enough detail to communicate grip texture while maintaining accurate color.

Each material demanded different treatment, but the lighting had to stay consistent across the full inventory so the collection felt cohesive. We used neutral gray environments and a restrained reflective plane to add elegance without competing with the products. Shadows were calibrated to add depth without obscuring detail, keeping the focus on form and finish.

Standardized angles and architectural framing

Compositions combined standardized angles for size and function legibility with symmetrical, architectural framing. We shot repeatable viewpoints across the inventory so customers could compare products easily. The wedges and dumbbells received special attention since they represent the brand's movement furniture positioning. Each piece was captured in ways that showed both its decorative quality and its functional purpose.

For the kettlebells and weights, we included angles that demonstrated scale and usability. For fabric items like the tote bag and duffel, we focused on stitching, weave, and construction details. The massage gun, hot pack, and ice pack were shot to communicate quality and finish at the same level as the strength equipment.

Forensic color accuracy over saturation

Post-production prioritized faithful color and micro-contrast over saturation. The goal was forensic accuracy so online shoppers could trust what they were seeing. We delivered e-commerce product angles with consistent lighting, macro texture studies showing material details, and campaign visuals on the reflective set. The collection includes up to 100 images covering the full product line.

Each image was designed to work across multiple channels while maintaining the same truthful representation of materials and finishes. The holiday campaign images matched the core visual system so seasonal content doesn't drift from the brand's established look.

The Insight:

Editorial quality meets e-commerce clarity

As a Toronto product photographer, the key to this project was balancing editorial quality with e-commerce clarity. Lifted Movement's products sit at the intersection of fitness and home decor, so the photography needed to communicate both performance and design without choosing one over the other. The lighting approach revealed texture and craftsmanship while keeping colors accurate enough that customers receive what they expect.

The result is a photo collection that positions the equipment as designer objects, not just workout tools, while giving online shoppers the detail they need to make confident purchase decisions.
