Lifted Movement - Kettlebells

Lifted Movement kettlebell and fitness equipment studio photography with material detail focus

- about this project
The Project:

Complete product line photography for design-forward fitness equipment brand

I photographed Lifted Movement's full product line across a 2.5-day production that covered their complete inventory refresh. The brand creates design-forward fitness equipment meant to be displayed in the home, and they needed imagery that accurately represented the true colors and materials of each piece. Working from Vancouver as a premium product photographer, I re-shot kettlebells, free weights, silicone hand weights, resistance bands, the Deluxe Movement Mat, tote bag, duffel bag, dumbbells, the Arc, wedges, heat wraps, mini motivator, massage gun, hot and ice packs, and a set of holiday campaign images. The project resulted in up to 100 images designed to show texture and craftsmanship across different finishes including marble, metal, and silicone.

The Challenge:

Material accuracy across soft white finishes and tactile details

The brand's equipment features soft white powder-coated finishes, marble-like end caps, and silicone grip details. These materials needed to read accurately online so customers could understand what they were buying. My focus was delivering true-to-life color and high-detail imagery that clearly communicates premium quality at first glance. The kettlebell photos needed to show handle thickness, the actual white finish without color shifts, and the tactile qualities that justify the premium positioning.

The Execution:

Controlled lighting for color fidelity and texture resolution

I built the lighting around controlled setups that would maintain color accuracy across the entire catalog. The white finishes required precision to avoid the yellow or grey shifts that make products look less expensive than they are. Diffuse lighting eliminated harsh glare on reflective surfaces while preserving the micro-texture details that signal craftsmanship. Each piece was shot with consistent shadow language and background tonality so the full collection reads as a unified system rather than disconnected shots.

Angle strategy and compositional clarity

For the kettlebells and weights, I used frontal and three-quarter angles that reveal full form and handle dimensions. The compositions show sculptural geometry while maintaining the clean, minimal aesthetic the brand is known for. Neutral backdrops kept the focus on the products themselves, while reflective stone surfaces in select shots added depth and communicated a sense of luxury without contaminating the accurate white balance I maintained throughout the shoot.

Macro texture photography as trust signal

The texture work required macro detail shots that make the material quality undeniable. I photographed the silicone grip feel on lighter weights, the light knurling on heavier pieces, the powder-coat finish, metal sheen, and marble end caps with enough resolution that customers can see exactly what they're getting. This level of detail converts premium pricing from a claim into visible proof. For items like resistance bands and bags, I captured fabric weave and stitching quality using the same controlled lighting approach.

Styling for dual positioning as fitness and decor

I approached the styling to balance the brand's position as both functional training equipment and interior design objects. The shots needed to feel at home in a modern living space without losing the clarity required for online stores. Stone and neutral surfaces provided context without distraction. The lighting stayed consistent whether I was shooting a 40-pound kettlebell or a 2-pound hand weight, which meant the collection maintains visual cohesion across the entire range.

Production structure and format flexibility

The production covered structured angle sets for each product, showing front, side, and detail views that answer basic questions about scale, edges, and how the equipment actually looks in three dimensions. I shot with composition flexibility in mind so the images work across different formats and channels. The holiday campaign images received the same color-accurate treatment while incorporating seasonal context that aligned with the brand's clean aesthetic.

Technical Approach:

Calibrated workflow for material truth across dozens of SKUs

Working from Vancouver on this type of project, the technical challenge is maintaining material fidelity across dozens of SKUs while keeping production efficient. I used a calibrated workflow and controlled retouching process to ensure the soft white finish reads the same way on every product. The marble accents needed to look dimensional rather than flat, and the metal components required managed highlights that show sheen without blowing out detail.

The Outcome:

100 images balancing aesthetic appeal with purchase confidence

The final collection includes clean photos for product pages, texture-focused detail shots, and images that communicate the decor-friendly positioning without sacrificing accuracy. Every image was processed to match the true colors and finishes of the physical products. The kettlebells show their actual white coating, handle thickness, and weight distribution. The free weights clearly display the marble end caps and grip surfaces. The accessories and recovery tools are rendered with the same attention to material truth.

This type of fitness equipment photography requires balancing technical precision with the brand's aesthetic goals. The images needed to prove premium quality while maintaining the minimal, sophisticated look that differentiates this equipment from standard gym gear. I delivered a photo collection that accurately represents each product's color, finish, and craftsmanship so customers can make informed decisions before purchase.

Consistent angles and exposure across SKUs build trust in the product line, while macro logo detail shots communicate attention to craft.
